Michael Whitner

Michael Whitner is a local musician and Samford Graduate with a degree in Music Composition and a Bass Concentration. He has a passion for music and its impact on child development. The son of a music minister, Michael has been involved in music and using his gifts to serve others his entire life. His musical journey began at age five playing the tambourine in church, and from there he has had opportunities to play a variety of genres and venues ranging from bluegrass and jazz music in retirement homes, classical music with the Tuscaloosa Symphony, musicals with the Red Mountain Theater Company, and pop music in local venues from Orlando to New Orleans. Michael loves performance, but as much as he loves performing he also loves mentorship and inspiring a love of music to the next generation. Michael is an avid believer in the crucial role that music plays in life, and his desire is to use his musical gifts to help young children flourish. Michael has been involved in summer music classes with his church, leading worship for the children’s ministry and the youth praise band, and teaching private lessons. When not doing something musical, Michael is spending time with his lovely wife, Kathy, and his two precious kiddos, Mica and Charlotte. Michael is so excited to be joining the Kindermusik team and cannot wait for the opportunity to help equip the next generation of musicians!
